MCA: Kerwin, thanks so much for joining us today! First, won’t you tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m the Marketing Manager at Aiwibi. Unlike the traditional perception that marketing and product development are two separate worlds, I’ve always believed that truly great products come from deeply understanding user needs—even the ones they haven’t yet expressed.
As a Gen Z parent myself, I stand at the intersection of modern family life and market insight. I know firsthand what today’s parents care about: safety, convenience, aesthetics, and a sense of trust. That’s why I don’t just market products—I help shape them. I collaborate closely with our R&D team to explore possibilities at the frontiers of baby care, constantly asking: What more can we do? What haven’t we thought of yet?
I thrive on challenging the impossible. Whether it’s innovating on diaper core technology, redefining low-sensitivity standards, or creating emotionally resonant campaigns, I believe in pushing boundaries—not just to stay ahead of the market, but to genuinely improve the lives of parents and babies.
In today’s world, where products are everywhere but connection is rare, I want Aiwibi to be more than just a diaper brand. I want it to be a symbol of thoughtful care, of smart design, and of a new generation of parenting values.
MCA: Helping to shape products that make babies’ and parents’ lives better—can you tell us about the journey that led you to create your award-winning product?
The journey to creating our award-winning Aiwibi diaper has been shaped by years of hands-on research, real parenting experience, and a deep understanding of diverse consumer needs across countries.
One of the earliest challenges we encountered in product development was the perception of thickness in diapers. In China, parents overwhelmingly prefer ultra-thin diapers, believing that thinner means more breathable and comfortable. On the other hand, in many other countries—such as parts of Europe and the Americas—consumers associate thicker diapers with better quality, assuming that the bulk equates to more absorbent material and better performance. Some even worry that thinner diapers may feel like cost-cutting or lower standards.
But from a professional R&D perspective, thickness has little to do with absorption. In fact, many thick diapers rely on wood pulp in the absorbent core, which gives them bulk but causes significant drawbacks—they tend to clump when wet, become heavy, and reduce a baby’s freedom to move. We found that what parents truly want is a diaper that’s both light and powerful—one that absorbs quickly, stays dry, and keeps babies comfortable, even during long wear.
When I traveled to different markets and studied local products, I realized the issue wasn’t that parents liked thick diapers—it was that they didn’t have better choices. There were very few options that offered advanced absorbency in a slim, soft, and ergonomic design.
This insight drove us to innovate. Leveraging the most advanced technology and material science available, we developed a wood pulp–free ultra-thin core using the best SAP (super absorbent polymers) and layered structures that allow for rapid and even distribution of liquid, without clumping or sagging.
We even tested leading international brands on my own children—including some well-known competitors. After just a few uses, the baby immediately complained: “Papa, it’s too big and heavy.” That was a turning point for me. I knew then that we were on the right path—babies notice, and they deserve better.
MCA: Tell us about the research involved in the development of your premium diaper.
At Aiwibi, we’ve now entered 95 countries around the world. But the more families and babies we reach, the more clearly we see a global issue: one-third of families around the world cannot afford basic hygiene essentials like diapers and baby wipes. And nearly one in five families are forced to choose low-quality or B-grade products because of limited budgets.
In the early stages of Aiwibi, our R&D focus was heavily on pushing product boundaries—exploring new materials, advanced absorption technologies, and top-tier performance. However, we gradually realized that with every technological breakthrough, the cost also increased—and if a product becomes too expensive for the average family, then it strays from our original purpose.
We believe every baby, no matter where they are born, deserves to grow up with clean, safe, and comfortable care. Whether in affluent cities or underprivileged regions, we want parents to have access to reliable, premium-quality diapers at an affordable price. That belief is what drives our innovation today: not just premium, but premium and affordable.
When people ask us why Aiwibi has grown so quickly, we believe the answer is simple: product speaks louder than anything else. Based on consumer surveys conducted across over a dozen countries, more than 91% of customers said they were satisfied with Aiwibi diapers, would purchase again, and would recommend them to others.
This trust is what fuels us—from Australia to the world, from R&D labs to local supermarkets—to keep improving, keep listening, and keep delivering products that meet both emotional and practical needs of families everywhere.
MCA: How does your premium diaper address a need or solve a problem for families?
At Aiwibi, we don’t just deliver a product—we deliver a solution.
Parents no longer need to worry about waking up in the middle of the night to change diapers, about leakage accidents during playtime, or about diaper rash caused by rough or non-breathable materials. Our diapers are designed to solve these daily parenting pain points with science, care, and precision.
Our absorbent core is just 1mm thin, compared to the 3.5mm average on the market—yet it absorbs at least 40% more than traditional technologies. This means one Aiwibi diaper is enough to keep a baby dry through the entire night, giving parents peace of mind and babies a restful sleep.
But we didn’t stop at absorption. After studying babies’ body types across dozens of countries, we found that one of the leading causes of leakage is poor fit—especially for babies who don’t fall into “average” sizing, like those with slimmer legs or rounder bellies. Most brands use one standard cut to fit all, but we believe every baby deserves a perfect fit.
That’s why Aiwibi uses ergonomic tailoring that adapts better to different shapes and movements. This ensures a snug, comfortable fit and minimizes the risk of leaks, even for babies with unique body proportions.
In short, Aiwibi helps families focus less on worry—and more on joyful moments. Because when babies are comfortable, dry, and rash-free, everyone sleeps better.
MCA: What sets your product apart from other similar products in the marketplace? What unique features or benefits does it offer?
What sets Aiwibi apart is our relentless pursuit of solving a challenge that most in the diaper industry consider nearly impossible:
Creating a diaper core that absorbs quickly, holds a large volume, minimizes rewet, and remains affordable—all at the same time.
While many brands may achieve one or two of these goals, Aiwibi has engineered a solution that truly delivers on all four. Here’s how:
Our honeycomb absorption core ensures rapid dispersion and efficient storage of moisture.
A special anti-backflow layer (ADL) spreads liquid fast into the core, avoiding wetness on the surface.
We use top-grade Japanese SAP from Sandia and Sumitomo, offering powerful absorption while resisting hydrolysis—a key cause of skin irritation and diaper rash in conventional products.
Our core remains ultra-thin at just 1mm, yet absorbs 40% more than traditional 3.5mm cores—ensuring overnight dryness without the bulk.
But dryness is only part of the comfort equation.
What truly sets us apart is our exclusive MicroAiry Film™ technology. Unlike traditional PE back sheets, MicroAiry Film™ features over 50 billion micropores per square meter, enabling 50% higher oxygen exchange. This ensures the diaper remains breathable, helps regulate skin temperature, and significantly reduces the chance of diaper rash caused by trapped heat and moisture.
In addition, Aiwibi has partnered with Germany’s Dermatest® to certify all our products through rigorous clinical skin testing—proving they are extremely low-irritant and suitable for even the most sensitive babies.
MCA: Impressive! Can you share any memorable stories or feedback from customers who have used your product?
We’ve received countless touching and funny stories from our customers around the world—but one that stands out is about a very special “consumer” who later became part of our brand journey.
She was a mother from the Philippines, traveling with her husband and baby on vacation in Malaysia. While shopping at a local supermarket, she happened to buy a pack of Aiwibi diapers, purely by chance.
After using them, she was so impressed by the product’s softness, thinness, and absorbency that she immediately tried to buy more when she returned to the Philippines—only to discover that Aiwibi wasn’t available in her country yet.
Instead of giving up, she took action: She contacted our headquarters directly, flew to visit us in person with her husband, and expressed her strong interest in bringing Aiwibi to her local market.
Today, she is Aiwibi official distributor in the Philippines, helping introduce high-quality, affordable diapering solutions to Filipino families.
MCA: That’s quite an endorsement! Tell us, as a creator/manufacturer, how do you ensure safety and suitability for your target audience?
First, we start from the source. All our raw materials are carefully selected from the most reputable global suppliers. For example:
Our adhesives are sourced from Henkel Germany, a leader in safe bonding solutions.
Our super-absorbent polymers (SAP) come from top manufacturers like Sumitomo in Japan and BASF in Germany.
Our pulp is imported from trusted suppliers such as Weyerhaeuser and International Paper in the United States.
Second, our quality control system is among the most rigorous in the industry. In general, there are multiple levels of standards: national standards, industry standards, company standards, and brand standards. We have built our own Aiwibi brand standard, which goes far beyond regulatory requirements. If a product does not meet this standard, it is classified as a B-grade product, and we strictly destroy it—never allowing it to enter the market.
This is in stark contrast to some markets where B-grade products are openly sold, often with little to no packaging or transparency.
To further ensure safety and skin compatibility, we’ve also established:
Global R&D centers for ongoing innovation,
Strategic partnerships with leading organizations like Dermatest (Germany) and SGS,
And a team of dermatologists and pediatricians who advise us on product development and testing.
Through all these measures, we strive to deliver a product that is not only high-performing but also safe, gentle, and trustworthy—because every baby deserves the best.
MCA: What challenges did you encounter during the development or launch of your product, and how did you overcome them?
One of the biggest challenges we faced was finding the right balance between high performance, consistent quality, and cost control.
At Aiwibi, we insist on using only premium-grade raw materials—from Japan’s Sumitomo and Sandia SAP, to the U.S.-sourced fluff pulp, to Germany’s Henkel adhesive and ultra-soft PE backsheet films. This commitment significantly increased our fixed costs from day one.
However, we refused to lower our standards just to meet the market average. We knew that truly solving problems for families meant delivering a best-in-class diaper, not just a passable one.
The challenge became even more complex due to MOQ (minimum order quantity) requirements for high-end materials. For example, the price difference between purchasing 1 ton vs. 100 tons of PE film can exceed 150%. But here’s the scale of that risk: 1 ton of PE film is enough to manufacture over 1 million diapers. That means if the product doesn’t sell fast enough, the financial loss from unused premium materials can easily surpass our total development cost.
To overcome this, we had to bet on volume and scale early, absorbing the initial risk ourselves—not passing it on to our consumers. We built a streamlined, flexible production model that could support both premium performance and affordability at scale. And we doubled down on product quality and user feedback to drive word-of-mouth growth.
Today, our bet has paid off.
MCA: Clearly, it’s taken impressive teamwork and commitment to excellence to develop these products. Can you share a story behind your team?
I’d be happy to. Our journey into creating preemie diapers didn’t start with a traditional product brief … it began with a realization that caught us all by surprise. One of our team members had gone through a premature birth and, like many parents, she didn’t know there were diapers designed specifically for preemies. The moment she shared that with us, we were all left thinking: “If we didn’t know this, how many other parents don’t?”
That’s when we decided to do something about it. It wasn’t just about making a smaller diaper. It was about making something that was safer, softer, and simpler for those tiny, delicate babies. The first sample we received was so small that one of us thought it was a cleaning cloth for glasses. We all had a laugh, but it was also a moment of realization: that size is real. And for babies that small, every millimeter counts.
As we kept developing the product, we found that preemies don’t come in a one-size-fits-all kind of way. So we made sure to offer multiple sizes, each one designed for a different stage of early development. And as we dug deeper, we discovered that some NICUs didn’t provide enough protection from the blue light used during treatment. That led us to another idea: a diaper that helps shield babies from that light, while still being breathable and comfortable. We’re still working on it, but we’re excited about the difference it could make.
For us, this isn’t just about diapers. It’s about giving these little ones and their parents a bit more peace of mind. And if we can make even one parent feel a little more at ease during those challenging first days, we know we’ve done something good.
MCA: Looking ahead, what are your plans or goals for expanding or improving product?
Looking ahead, one of our core goals is to develop a 100% biodegradable, high-performance diaper.
We’ve already taken steps in this direction— Aiwibi successfully launched a bamboo fiber diaper, which is fully biodegradable and eco-friendly. However, bamboo fiber comes with trade-offs. While it’s great for the planet, its performance is significantly weaker compared to traditional materials. It tends to have higher rewet rates, and its raw material cost is nearly three times higher.
Right now, we’re stuck in what we call the “impossible triangle”: it’s extremely difficult to balance eco-friendliness, performance, and affordability all at once. Many brands choose to lean on sustainability as a marketing point and justify the high price, even if the product’s actual performance falls short. But in our view, we can’t protect the Earth by compromising a baby’s comfort and health—that would defeat the purpose.
That said, we believe every “impossible triangle” can eventually be solved. It’s not a question of if, but when. We’re actively investing in material innovation, global R&D collaborations, and next-generation manufacturing processes. Our dream is to create a diaper that is 100% compostable, ultra-performing, and still accessible to families worldwide.
As for cost? Well, we’ll try our best to make it happen!
